Malta-gate, we need to find someone to impeach.

Malta, 11am and we’re now waiting for the shuttle bus to transfer us back to the airport.  We finally arrived at our temporary accommodation, the hotel Dolomen, at around 4am after a coach journey that seemed to last an eternity but in reality lasted about an hour.  The sun was starting to make an appearance as we drove through the deserted countryside, and despite being a small island passing car showroom after car show room selling prestigious vehicles such as BMW, Mercedes etc.  We have been in contact with our representative in Kenya and it looks like we should still be able to make our scheduled departure to the Masai Mara tomorrow at 6am but this will mean another short nights sleep, with only four or five hours sleep when we arrive, providing of course that everything goes to plan!

Malta-gate, 13.27….  lunch has been provided and with the beer and wine flowing freely everyone is a little more subdued, though this is probably more due to the lack of sleep, with people asleep on any surface that provides some form of comfort.  Looking from it from the outside, it must look quite humerous for the people who are actually staying in the hotel (which is first rate, we have no complaints in that department) with the lobby full of luggage and lots of people passed out  all over the place.  We’ve been in contact with the travel Rep in Kenya and it looks like we might be able to make the Mara after all, though again the lack of sleep will catch up with us over the coming days.  I suspect, however, that as soon as we spot our first wild animal, the adrenaline will kick in and the desire to photograph them will over power the need for sleep… I’ll let you know how we get o … zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
