Nice to see you-hooo!

Autumnwatch has started this evening and Chris Packham, one of the main presenters, has already started dropping in the odd song title into the show; he’s a man after my own heart, both in regards to wildlife and music – this show’s musical these were based upon songs by The Damned. If you’ve read some of my earlier blogs, you’ll know that The Damned are one of my favourite bands and whilst the first song he quoted, Grimly Fiendish, wasn’t one of my favourite from the band, the second one certainly was Neat Neat Neat.

I received a rather wonderful present today, a book that details where specific birds can be found around the UK. I think I might have found a new challenge, to work my way through the whole book and develop a portfolio based around out native wildlife.

I’ve also started work on a new website and I’m really pleased with the way it’s coming along. I’m hoping to make it much easier to update than my previous page which is essential really plus I might even get a shop up and running on there where you can purchase some of my photos in various formats such as prints, posters and calendars.

One thing that was mentioned on Autumnwatch that peaked my interest, one listener had written in to say they had seen Waxwings. It does seem a bit early, but there is an over abundance of hedgerow fruit this year, and so I wouldn’t be surprised if we do see an influx of migrants from the colder northern climes. Right, I’m just off to try and build a Waxwing detector.

  1. ‘Smash It Up’ made an appearance as well, I couldn’t help noticing.

  2. As did “Nasty”. And the second episode almost had an album title, when he talked about badgers “mating for pleasure” (just a word away from “Music for Pleasure”. Is it odd that I now find my main reason for watching is to spot Damned song titles???
