Teenagers today…

Curlew amongst the Avocets, originally uploaded by andyskelton.

I loved the withered look the Curlew is giving to the camera whilst surrounded by noisy, scatty Avocets. Normally a very nervous bird itself, the Curlew stood calmly in one spot whilst the Avocets raced around it.

I had wanted to get a photo of the iconic Avocet, and I did indeed get some, to be uploaded to Flickr shortly, but I was more enamoured by the larger wader.

One of my main aims, when visiting Norfolk, was to visit the RSPB reserve at Titchwell; I’ve visited several times in the past so I had high hopes, however with coastal renovations underway, the main hides I wanted to visit were closed somewhat scuppering my plans. Perhaps next time.
