Tiger, Tiger burning bright….

Tiger, originally uploaded by andyskelton.

Another photo from my visit to Dartmoor Zoo ( http://www.dartmoorzoo.org ). The weather was, initially, not the best I could have hoped for, but like any good photographer knows – patience is a virtue and after lunch the clouds cleared and I was able to take some really memorable photos.

The tiger looks like he’s posing.. in fact that was just what he was doing. As you can see from some of the other photos in the series he was fully reclined until one of the Zoo staff (Justin) started to call him, for my benefit. The tiger did respond and the above photo is all thanks to the Justin.

I have an even better photo of a cheetah which I’ll be uploading tomorrow, again captured due to another helpful and friendly member of Staff.

Obviously one of the greatest assets at a zoo are the animals but I think the Staff are just as important. I’ve never felt as welcomed at any of the zoos we’ve been to (and we’ve been to all the major ones around the world) – I felt almost like one of the family (just glad I didn’t have to muck out the bears – I did find out one fact – yes, bears do “go” in the woods!)
