Smaller Skipper

Smaller Skipper, originally uploaded by andyskelton.

The lavender outside my office window at home brought a new visitor today, a couple of Small Skipper butterflies. Having previously photographer what I thought were Small Skippers, the size difference was immediately obvious and I shall have to reclassify some of my earlier photos.

Despite it’s small size, or because of it, neither of these visitors were perturbed with me, my camera or the flash gun. It’s a pity all wild life weren’t as accommodating, but then would it be as much fun trying to capture the images I want to get.

I’ve also rigged up some branches in the garden with the idea of getting some close up of the birds that visit. So far nothing of interest has turned up but I have high hopes for it, and I’m sure I’ll be posting more photos to Flickr as and when they do.

    • Thanks very much, I love trying to photograph butterflies – they flutter around so quickly it’s a real test to snap them.
